Three Insurance vs BiMPY Insurance
Three offers two levels of phone insurance which you can only add when you buy or upgrade your handset. The cover is tied to your Three contract and the basic plan does not include theft or loss, even though it starts at £10 per month for iPhone 16 insurance with an excess of £89. If you want to compare Three insurance with BiMPY insurance, the difference becomes clear immediately.
BiMPY® is a contract free 30 day rolling policy that includes theft as standard from £5 per month for the iPhone 16. Full Cover adds loss protection for only £1 more. There are no long commitments, no network lock-ins and your excess stays at a simple £50 or £75 for loss rather than rising to £149 per claim.
For anyone looking at real world protection rather than what is bundled at checkout, these differences matter. Theft and damage are two of the most common claim types in the UK and Three only includes theft on their higher priced Full Cover plan. With BiMPY you are protected from day one even on the Essential plan.
Here is a clear side by side comparison so you can see exactly what each option provides and which one offers the best value for the way you use your phone.

Where they differ
Flexibility
BiMPY® works on a simple 30 day rolling basis. You can start or stop your cover whenever you choose and you are not tied to a network or contract.
Three insurance is linked to your mobile contract which means you can only add it when you buy or upgrade your phone and you cannot manage it independently of your tariff.
Price and excess
BiMPY Essential starts at £5 per month with a £50 excess. Full Cover is £6 per month with the same clear excess structure for damage, theft and loss.
Three Basic starts at £10 per month with an £89 excess for damage claims. Three Full Cover rises to £14 per month with a £149 excess for damage, theft and loss.
Theft and loss
BiMPY includes theft as standard on both plans. Full Cover adds loss protection and unauthorised use for only £1 more.
Three does not include theft or loss on the Basic plan. You must upgrade to Three Full Cover to be protected and the excess for these claims is £149.
Repairs and protection
BiMPY gives you unlimited accidental damage claims each year with clear limits on theft and loss. You also get liquid damage, mechanical breakdown and up to £1,000 unauthorised use cover.
Three Basic only covers damage with theft and loss on their expensive full cover.
BiMPY offers lower monthly costs, lower excess fees, contract free flexibility and a 3 for 2 multi phone discount which makes it ideal for families and businesses.
Three offers simple network billed insurance but at a higher cost with fewer features and higher claim fees.
