Do you need mobile phone insurance?

Your mobile phone will come with a standard manufacturer’s warranty; however, this will only cover mechanical breakdown. Our phone insurance policy will protect against accidental damage, theft, loss (If selected at inception) or cracked screens.

Choosing the level of cover that is right for you is paramount, which is why we provide two options.

Our Essential Cover will provide peace of mind in the event of accidental damage, theft, cracked screens, liquid damage, use abroad, and any member of your immediate family cover while using your mobile phone.

If you lose your phone, our Full Cover will also provide peace of mind if your phone is lost.

The Insurance Product Information Documents will explain what is included in your phone insurance cover and information about what is not covered.

Some home insurance policies may allow you to add your mobile phone to the cover, and in some instances, you may pay a higher excess fee. Any claims you make against your mobile phone will affect your overall policy for home insurance and may increase your premiums.

Phone insurance cover

When you insure your mobile phone with BiMPY, the device is insured, so any member of your immediate family is covered whilst using it.

When you insure your mobile phone with BiMPY, the device is protected for up to 90 days per year when using it abroad for work or pleasure.

Yes, we cover up to £1000 of unauthorised use in the event your phone is lost or stolen.

Many things are covered, including cracked screens, liquid damage and mechanical breakdown outside the manufacturer’s warranty. Normal wear and tear, which includes scratches, are not covered.

Your mobile phone insurance is paid monthly by Direct Debit.

You must tell us when you upgrade your phone as soon as possible. Please email hello@bimpy.co.uk advising us of your new phone.

If any of your details change at any time, please email hello@bimpy.co.uk as quickly as possible.

When you insure your mobile phone with us, the phone is insured, so if we need to replace it will be replaced like-for-like. Please select the correct model and GB storage size when purchasing your cover.

Yes, we insure reconditioned and refurbished phones less than 36 months old and purchased from a UK VAT-registered company, which can be your mobile phone network provider or a retailer.

Yes, we provide phone insurance for devices up to 36 months old.

Yes, you can protect your contract mobile phone with BiMPY.

Yes, you can get mobile phone insurance for your SIM-free phone, provided you purchased it from a VAT-registered UK company and the device is not older than 36 months.

Making a phone insurance claim

You can make a claim online 24 hours a day via our online form, which you can access from your ACCOUNT

Claims are processed and handled by Warranty & Creditor Services, and you can email the claims support team should you require assistance at claims@wcsinsurance.co.uk

When making a claim, we will ask you to provide proof of purchase, which will be your receipt which must display the IMEI of your mobile phone.

You can verify proof of ownership with your receipt from the retailer or mobile network from whom you purchased your phone.

You should tell your mobile phone network as soon as possible if your phone is lost or stolen. This will then allow the network operator to block your phone, preventing further use.

If your phone has been lost or stolen, please report this to the police within 24 hours of the incident. You will be required to provide your crime reference number, which the police will provide.

Yes, you will get a 90-day warranty on any repairs carried out on your phone, and if we replace your phone, it will come with a 12-month warranty.

Your phone has a unique serial number which is called an International Mobile Equipment Identification. IMEI.

To find your IMEI, go to your phone and dial *#06#

You will always receive a direct replacement when and where possible should we have to replace your phone. In the unlikely event your phone is no longer available, we will liaise with you to provide a comparable replacement of the same specification.

Yes. You must pay your excess fee before your phone can be repaired or replaced and your excess fee will be dependent on the value of your handset. 

A compulsory excess fee applies to each claim, which we have set out in the table below:

Please note that all claims for loss incur an additional excess fee of £50

There is no limit on the number of claims you can make annually for accidental damage. However, there is a limit of two claims per year for theft or loss.
